Earlier today when I decided to start the blog, I had been thinking about this week.  I have been feeling sort of blah since Brian (my husband) went back on the road and feeling a little overwhelmed. I love my children and I love being a stay at home mom, but I long for a little ME time.  I honestly don't know what that is.  I was just overwhelmed and decided I was going to go to Weight Watchers and finally do something for myself.  This is a big step for me.  I am always putting everyone else first.
Tuesday I woke up, got ready, got Abbie ready and headed out... I dropped her off at playgroup and ran to the WW meeting.   The excitement of being alone quickly transformed into "How did I ever let myself weigh this much".  I guess after the past couple of years of running after kids I never realized how much weight I put on, but I was at least taking control of it.  I got through the meeting picked up my daughter and headed home.  You see leaving Abigail anywhere is easier said then done.  My husband and I have to be very cautious about leaving Abigail with ANYONE!  She has severe food allergies to Cows milk, soy, wheat, gluten, eggs, legumes (peas, beans, etc.), plums, and corn.  She has only been with a sitter a hand full of times because leaving her just creates more stress for us.  This one step of leaving her somewhere not home made a HUGE difference.  I guess its hard to explain unless you have a child with a disability or an illness.  I can and have to control everything in our home environment.  Abigail can not eat most pre-packaged food because they contain soy and or salt (salt contains corn).  The simple mistake of giving her Tylenol or Motrin also will lead to an allergic reaction because both of those medications contain high fructose corn syrup.  This journey of ours is very interesting and eye opening, but most of all it is STRESSFUL.  We preserve our own tomatoes, applesauce, sauce, and other items so that we know we can offer a quick safe dinner to our entire family.  We are careful about the cleaning products, health and wellness products and school supplies we have in our home.
Now that I have taken the first step, I think anything is possible.  So, I must jump back on the band wagon and finish making 70 lbs of apples worth of applesauce and apple butter before they all go bad :)
